Akpegede came to the limelight in the annals of the chequered history of Nigeria, as the only village that had produced an uninterrupted Senate Presidency for eight years and the most ranking senator.
Ironically, the same village has the most deplorable state of primary school structures. It is in line with this, that the Sole Administrator of Otukpo local government, Hon. George Alli led the Deputy Governor of Benue State, Engr. Benson Abounu to flag off the construction of standard classrooms, head master office, store and V.I.P toilets in the LGEA primary school at Akpegede and other parts of Otukpo local government.
The school is a stone throw from the acclaimed best golf course in Africa, St Mark Golf Course, located in the same Akpegede.
For a very long time, ignorance has been given trial, at the expense of quality education in the entire Idoma kingdom. The products of public schools, that benefited immensely and have become prominent people in the society, have all abandoned the same schools to rot.
