ITF Boss Commends UNILORIN for Training Students Beyond Theoretical Knowledge:

The Ilorin Area Manager of the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), Dr. (Mrs.) C. O. Arokoyo, has commended the University of Ilorin for its commitment to students’ training beyond theoretical knowledge.

Dr. (Mrs.) Arokoyo, who gave the commendation last Tuesday (March 18, 2014), when she led an ITF management team on a visit to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. AbdulGaniyu Ambali, in his office, said the University is the most up-to-date with the training institute in all its programmes.

The Area Manager told the Vice-Chancellor that the ITF was interested in further cementing the relationship between the two institutions, noting that the ITF had been regenerated for effective human capacity development in the country.

Praising the effort of the University of Ilorin in the area of industrial training, Dr. (Mrs.) Arokoyo specifically lauded the Vice-chancellor “for doing a good job” in the University.

In his response the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. AbdulGaniyu Ambali, who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (RTI), Prof. Felix Oladele, commended the ITF’s effort in giving practical experience to Nigerian students

The Vice-Chancellor stressed that the two institutions need to do more, considering the number of unemployed youths in the nation, adding that the University is currently reviewing its curriculum in its bid to ensure that students are work-ready after graduation.

He thanked the ITF for recently training some of the University drivers and for working hard to resolve the issues surrounding the outstanding allowances for students and members of staff of the University.

With the Deputy Vice-Chancellor to receive the ITF team were the Director, SIWES Unit, Prof. H. Umoh, and the Chief SIWES Coordinator, Dr. K. S. Abdulsalam.

On the visiting ITF team were Mrs. I. M. Osagie, Mr. Abdul A. Mohammed and Mr. Molokwu Philip Chidike.
