Greensprings school student wins international writing competition

A student of Greensprings School, Anthony, campus, Lagos, Oluwatoni Adesanya has been announced as the first runner-up in the Kemper Human Rights Education Foundation’s (KHREF) after competing against about 100 candidates from 17 different countries.

Oluwatoni essay titled: “Human rights violations masquerading as COVID-19 interventions: The Nigerian experience”, was declared second best, and awarded a $500 prize in the just-concluded international competition.

Oluwatoni explained that her writing was borne out of the problems that Nigeria experienced during the pandemic, the looting of palliatives donated by the private sector, and the desire to draw attention to some of the problems confronting Nigerians. She said she did extensive research on all reliable platforms to put the piece together, which centered mainly on how low-income and poor Nigerians have been badly affected by COVID-19 policies.
