Vice-Chancellor of Reedemer’s University, Mowe, Ogun State, Prof. Debo Adeyewa, has urged newly admitted students of the institution to be diligent, warning that RUN only awards degree to deserving students.
The VC spoke during the ninth matriculation of the university.
He said, “You must be courageous, passionate, faithful, diligence and swift. None of you is a failure; therefore do not act as one. As divine champions, you must fight the ills of this nation – corruption, laziness, nepotism, and short-sightedness.
“I want you to remember that in a university system, you hold your destiny in your hands. What you achieve within the next four years and beyond is solely determined by you. As a university, we do not compromise on standards. Our degrees are highly regarded and well sought after because of the quality of our teaching and are awarded to those been found worthy both in character and learning.”
Calling on parents to support the university to train the students, Adeyewa advised them against indiscipline.
He added, “The university places premium on discipline and good conduct by its students. RUN is here to teach and prepare you to face life beyond your youth. I wish to draw your attention to the fact that you are not here by accident. Necessargy trainings have been put together for you to become the total man and reach the pinnacle life.
“We cannot do it alone. We need you to be willing and ready to learn and abide by the regulations guiding students conduct on campus. We also need parents and guardians to work with us in nurturing these young ones in order to make them role models in the future.”
He boasted that the students would graduate within four years, noting that the school had no course to embark on strike.
“Another advantage here is that we don’t strike. Nothing like that here. It is our fervent desire and earnest expectations that you will take full advantage of the great opportunity that are afforded you.
From today, you will begin to accomplish goals and desires that would make you leaders and world changers. You must fight the good fight, finish your course and keep the faith,” he added.
