The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has stated that it will start conducting its examination for private candidates (November/December) popularly known as WAEC GCE two times as from next year, 2018.
This was made known by the Registrar of the examination body Dr Iyi Uwadiae during an interaction with newsmen after the Registrar’s Staff Appraisal Committee meeting held on Wednesday in Accra, Ghana.

The private examinations will take place in January /February and August/September every year in all the member countries.
The WAEC boss said the details about schedule dates, available subjects and location of centres for the second diet of the examinations for private candidates would be provided by the national offices of member countries.
According to him, this is to allow more candidates who would like to obtain the certificate for various purposes more opportunity to sit for the examination and obtain the certificate.
He mentioned that this new development does not affect the May/June SSCE at it remains once a year.
