UTME 2012 Use of English: The 2 Books to Read

Jamb has made it clear that 25 Marks will be awarded to candidates who can correctly answer all questions coming from the 2 recommended books for the 2012 UTME.

As contained in the Jamb Syllabus, The 2 novels again are;
1. The Potter's Wheel - 10 Questions - 15 marks
2. The Successors - 5 Questions - 10 marks

With the examination coming up on 24th March, candidates are expected to completely read up the 2 novels of approximately 500 pages.

You still have 2 weeks to go. Get the books anyhow, buy it, get from a friend and read it up.

As with the usual JAMB style of asking comprehensions, according to Famousemeka Onyema [Thanks], some of the hints you can take not of are;

1. The writer's Intention
2. The title you would have given the passage
3. The writer's mood
4. The writer's point of View
5. What figure of speech it is
6. What is conveyed in the statement
7. How a word is used in the passage
8. Never add your own meanings to any of the passages probably because you know the subject or topic and have read it before
9. Read the questions first

We at SchoolGist only have the best intentions for you. Wishing you a successful exam. Please study real hard. For details of what you are expected to cover to get prepared for the exam, get a JAMB Syllabus from anywhere. If you don't have, ask a friend. It's not an excuse.
