UNIZIK: Varsity school fees may increase up to N200,000 per session if ASUU strike fails

According to information published this morning by the Office of Public Relations, Students Union Government, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, the members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) UNIZIK branch, led by Prof. Ike Odimegwu of the Department of Philosophy and lecturers of the university, stormed the Aroma junction Awka as early as 7:00am this morning with placards appealing to the Federal Government to resolve and implement the MOU signed by the two parties in 2009.

ASUU (UNIZIK CHAPTER) has this to say:

If this strike fails;

*School fees in federal universities will, most likely increase beyond N200,000. Those of state universities can only be imagined.

*Over 80percent of Nigerians will not be able to afford university education.

*The rate of crime will increase to alarming proportion.

*Parents and guardians will be forced to borrow beyond their means to educate their children and wards.

*Universities will continue to turn out "unemployable graduates"

*Are these what Nigerians want for themselves and their children?
