UNIZIK elects new SUG president

Comrade Charles Obinna Ijeomah of the Department of Accountancy, Faculty of Management Sciences, have just been elected as the new President, Students Union Government, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.

Announcing the result of the virtual election conducted on Saturday, February 5, 2022, the Dean, Students Affairs, Professor Chinonso Achebe stated that Comrade Ijeomah polled a total of 1717 votes to defeat 4 other candidates.

Also, Comrade Ifunanya Jessica Okoye polled a total of 2225 votes to emerge as the Vice President of the union.

Other elected officials of the Union include:

Joel Abraham Ogbonnaya (2925 votes) - Secretary General

Chiemerie Ezeoke (2819 votes) - Assistant Secretary General

Victor Harrison (1989 votes) - Financial Secretary

Victor Obinna Onuorah (2110 votes) - Director of Socials

Atsedosan Orighomisan Judith (1969 votes) -Treasurer

Brightson Chigozirim Ihedioha (2872 votes) - Director of Sports

Ikechukwu Dikeojo (2797 votes) - Public Relations Officer

Present at the election situation room domiciled at the Students Affairs unit include the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Charles Okechukwu Esimone, FAS, the UNECO Secretary, Dr. Dereck Orji, UNECO Faculty representatives, students representatives and members of the UNIZIK Fm and the Information & Public Relations unit.

The Vice-Chancellor had in a brief remark thanked the Dean, the electoral body and the students for their commitment in making the 3rd virtual SUG election seamless and transparent. Prof. Esimone assured the incoming SUG EXCO of the support of the University Management.
