Two lecturers with the University of Lagos who were caught on camera demanding sex for grades from a BBC undercover reporter, who posed as a student of the institution, have been dismissed.
In the viral 2019 BBC special broadcast, the lecturers identified as Dr. Boniface Igbeneghu of the Department of European Languages and Integration Studies, Faculty of Arts, and Dr. Samuel Omoniyi Oladipo of the Department of Economics, Faculty of Social Sciences were filmed demanding sex from a reporter, Kiki Mordi, who posed as a minor seeking admission into the tertiary institution. Their dismissal was contained in a news publication released today, June 2, 2021, by the school, saying that it was approved by the Governing Council of the University on May 31 and took effect on the same day.
