It has been gathered that the fire incident that took place in the University of Jos (UNIJOS) on October 8th, 2016 has affected the ongoing 2016 admission process in some departments.
This was revealed by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Seddi Sebastian Maimako during a courtesy visit by the Chairman, Plateau State Council of Chiefs and Emirs, Gbong Gwom Jos, Jacob Gyang Buba.
The Vice Chancellor also revealed that the fire incident which burnt down the Library complex and six departments of the faculties of social science and management science has also affected the accreditation exercise that was suppose to be carried out by the National University Commission (NUC) in the school this November.
He however, stated that the university has already launched what it called “Operation Beauty from Ashes” which is aimed at encouraging individuals and corporate bodies to donate books and other resources to the university.
