The Management of the University of Calabar has frowned at the spate of reckless driving in and around the University premises.
A release signed by the University Registrar, Mr Gabriel Egbe and made available to the Public Relations Unit condemned, in strong terms, the dangerous act often perpetrated by some students of the institution under the guise of celebrating their matriculation, graduation or elections.
According to the release, such actions often constitute a grave danger to other members of the University Community and cannot be tolerated further.
Accordingly, the Vice Chancellor, as contained in the release, has directed that henceforth, all motorists must observe a speed limit of 40 km while driving on campus and passengers must be decently seated with no one hanging on the vehicle roofs, doors or boots.
It also directed the Chief Security Officer to impound vehicles of drivers found culpable of this offence and bring perpetrators to book.
