The Management of the University of Calabar rose from a meeting held on January 11, 2021, with a resolve to abolish all official cash transactions.
The decision, according to a letter signed by the University Registrar, Mr. Gabriel Egbe, and dated February 1, was meant to ensure transparency and accountability in all operations of the University.
The letter, accordingly, directed that all official cash transactions in the institution have been abolished with effect from February 5, 2021.
It stated that all approved payments must be made to the bank and official receipts issued on presentation of bank tellers, even as it urged all staff and students to ensure strict compliance with the new directive.
