One Enya Egbe, a 26-year student of the University of Calabar, Department of Anatomy, has recalled how he was left traumatized and distraught after finding out a corpse they were given to use for practicals was that of his friend.
Egbe disclosed that he had gathered with fellow students around three tables with a cadaver laid out on each. Minutes later, he screamed and fled out of the laboratory upon discovering the body his group had been asked to dissect was that of Divine, his friend of more than seven years.
According to BBC that reported the story, the incident occurred seven years ago on a Thursday afternoon.
The student who revealed that he and Divine usually go clubbing together before he was declared missing said the corpse had two bullet holes on the right side of his chest,
He said;
"Most of the cadavers we used in school had bullets in them. I felt so bad when I realized that some of the people may not be real criminals,"
Egbe added that after he fled the lab, he sent a message to Divine's family who had been going to different police stations in search of their relative after he and three friends were arrested by security agents on their way back from a night out. The family eventually reclaimed his body.
