SSANU Awards Sanusi the Most Distinguished Service Award:
Suspended governor of Central Bank of Nigeria(CBN), Malam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi has received the most distinguished service award by the North-West Zone of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU).
Receiving the award at the zonal council meeting of SSANU, North West zone, held at Kano University of Science and Technology (KUST), Wudil and organised by SSANU, Wudil chapter, Sanusi Lamido said he identified with universities due to his dream for a better and educated Nigeria.
Sanusi warned that without good education the country could hardly produce good leaders, good technocrats, competent politicians and youths that will not be on the streets on drugs and causing mayhem.

“These interventions are among the things that I am most proud of as governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria because I have always believed until we fixed education, we are never going to fix Nigeria’s problems,” Sanusi noted.
He said the interventions in the universities did not start with him adding that former governor of CBN, Charles Soludo had also approved the centre of excellence at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, University of Nigeria, Nsukka and University of Ibadan, saying he believed it was a very good gesture.
Lamido stated that if CBN continues these interventions, in the next 20 years there would be befitting structures in Nigeria’s universities.
He however reiterated that the centre of excellence CBN is building at Bayero University Kano will allow postgraduate students to be receiving lectures from Harvard and Oxford Universities while sitting in Kano.
Lamido added that the intervention was not just about infrastructure but about technology and also above all producing excellent postgraduate students.Meanwhile, the vice chancellor, KUST Wudil, Kano, Professor Sheu Alhaji Musa has lauded Sanusi’s foresight. (Leadership)
