South West zone of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools, Monday, joined other stakeholders in the country to decry the face-off between the Federal Government and Academic Staff Union of Universities, urging them to call off the four-month-old strike.

The President of the association in the South West Elder Dosu Idowu-Moses stated this while reading the communiqué of the NAPPS zonal Delegates’ Conference in Abeokuta, Ogun State, saying that the ASUU strike had dragged on for longer than necessary.

The NAPPS zonal president who expressed concern over the implication of the face-off enjoined the government to accede to the demands of ASUU regarding the upgrading of the infrastructure in the nation’s universities.

He appealed to both ASUU and the Federal Government to urgently reach a compromise and quickly bring the strike embarked upon by the lecturers since the beginning of July to an end in the interest of the students and the nation’s education sector.

“On ASUU and the Federal Government, we spoke Necodemously on the national level to those we thought would listen but they are not listening . The students have been at home for about four months now.”
