The Committee of Pro-Chancellors of Nigerian Federal Universities on Monday expressed concern over the ongoing strike embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities and called for its immediate resolution.
This was contained in a statement issued by Prof. Kimse Okoko, the Chairman, Committee of Pro-Chancellors of Nigerian Federal Universities, in Abuja on Monday.
The statement said the strike by ASUU had lingered because of the non-implementation of the 2009 agreement between the Federal Government and the union.
The statement said: “The collateral consequences of the strike are as it relates to the Post-UTME screening and the semester examinations in some universities, as well as the general dislocation of the academic calendar.
“The committee of pro-chancellors wishes to appeal to all parties concerned to dispassionately expedite action to resolve the matter soonest.”
The statement further said that the committee, on its part, would work assiduously toward ensuring quick resolution of the impasse.
