The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) at Sa’adu Zungur University (SAZU) has suspended the indefinite strike it commenced on November 29.
The strike, initiated over demands for pension and death benefit schemes, as well as the payment of earned academic and excess workload allowances, came to an end after a meeting held on December 14 at the Yuli Campus.
ASUU Chairperson, Comrade Auwal Nuhu, announced the suspension in a statement issued Monday, confirming an agreement had been reached with the Bauchi State Government through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
Comrade Nuhu attributed the decision to the fruitful discussions held with Governor Bala Mohammed, commending the Governor’s proactive commitment to improving education in the state.
The union has decided to resume work immediately following assurances from the State Government.
