The president of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS) Mr. Yomi Otubela, has appealed to the federal and state government to consider keeping schools open while enforcing covid-19 compliance in school.
Otubela made the appeal amidst talks that the federal government may review the resumption date for schools in the country. According to the NAPPS boss, keeping schools open would save lives and the means of livelihood.
He maintained that Private schools cannot afford another prolonged closure of schools as this would lead to a total collapse of the private education sub-sector, and suggested reopening of schools in phases where some students attend schools in the morning and others in the afternoon, especially for public schools.
He also tasked the PTA of various schools to form COVID-19 Compliance Officers among parents that will rotate visitation to schools on regular basis for compliance.
