Plateau State Government has approved the resumption of 3rd term academic activities for all public and private primary and secondary schools across the state from 30th October 2020. This is coming after series of meeting with relevant stakeholders and mechanisms have been put in place to observe the laid down COVID-19 protocols.
The Governor’s Director of Press and Public Affairs, Makut Macham made this known in a statement, adding that schools are to ensure they operate within the guidelines issued by the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 for the safety of students and teachers.
All grade 6 students are to resume schools between 19th-23rd October to prepare for the First School Leaving Certificate and National Common Entrance Examinations.
Furthermore, all heads of public and private schools with a high population are advised to consider staggered school attendance to avoid violating COVID-19 protocols relating to social distancing.
The statement disclosed that school principals and teachers have been engaged in various training to keep them abreast of basic operational requirements.
Similarly, the management of schools has been mandated to clean, fumigate and re-arrange the school environment in readiness to the resumption.
According to him, arrangements are also ongoing to facilitate the resumption of tertiary institutions in the state.
