On Sunday, October 31, 2021, a video that appeared to show children of a school in Lagos state singing the national anthem while standing inside their flooded school assembly, was shared online and generated criticism for the government.
The school was identified as Mawumadoka Orphans and Less Privilege Home/School, located at ccc oko-agbon2, Oko-agbon waterfront, Iwaya road, Yaba, Lagos state.
Reacting to the video, the Lagos State Ministry of Education issued a statement saying the school is a low-cost private school in Makoko, Lagos state, and the building had been demolished and is being built. The statement also added that the now-viral video was taken months ago by a church that wanted to use the video to raise funds for the school.
