Parents Urge Ministry of Education, Osun State to go tough on students who have turned miscreants

Forum of Parents of Public School Students in Osun have called on the Ministry of Education to, as a matter of urgency, go tough on students who have turned miscreants and found distrupting academic activities in Government owned schools in the state.

The parents forum made the call during a meeting with the Commissioner for Education, Hon Folorunso Oladoyin and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Hon. Jamiu Olawumi at Adventist Grammar School, Ede.

The forum also called for sanction to be placed on parents who are fond of supporting their children in the process of being rude to their teachers, explaining that this will go a long way in helping to bring sanity back to public schools.

In his response, Hon. Oladoyin while thanking the teachers and parents for their attendance to the meeting, said proper monitoring will start soon as plans are underway for an official I.D card for all students to aid the process.

While calling on teachers to cooperate with their school principals in order to deliver a 21st century Education feat, Oladoyin urged the teachers to be dedicated to their duties at all times.

Also speaking, the Special Adviser to the Govenor on Education, Hon. Jamiu Olawumi said, teachers should see themselves as moulders who have been given the mandate to mould the lives of their students to become better individuals.

He further advised teachers and principals to see themselves as role models who students would look up to.
