OOU Shuns Ogun Lawmakers Over Extra Fees:
The Governing Council and Senate of Olabisi Onabanjo University, OOU, Ago-Iwoye, yesterday, shunned the invitation of Ogun State House of Assembly to appear before it over the crisis rocking the institution, following alleged additional school fees imposed on final year medical students.
The Assembly had invited the university management to appear before the joint sitting of the House Committee on Justice and Petition and Committee on Education, to discuss and find solution to the issue.
It was gathered that the meeting was scheduled to start by 12pm inside the Committee Room of the Assembly, but could not hold due to the absence of the institution’s management.

It would be recalled that the institution’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Saburi Adesanya, at a stakeholders meeting on March 3, said the graduating medical students who had paid the mandatory six-year school fees required for the medical programme should pay a one-off developmental levy of N40,000 to develop the institution.
The matter came to a head when the management was alleged to have reneged on the agreement and asked the affected students to pay two extra tuition fees for the extra time they spent in school due to lecturers’ strike. (Vanguard)
