OAU Shut Down Indefinitely Following Staff Protest

The Management of OAU Has shut down the school indefinitely following the protest by the staff of the the institutions just one weeks from the proposed resumption of the students who have been at home for the past two months.

Dotun Awoyemo, who is the Registrar of the institution confirmed the news in a telephone conversation with Punch.

He said, “We have shut down the university indefinitely pending the time that we will resolve issues with our workers – Non-academic Staff of University (NASU) and Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (SSANU).”

“We have asked our newly admitted students to go home and postponed the resumption of old students indefinitely.”

The incident happened a week before students of the university, who had been on a two-month break were to resume.

According to Punch, the protest reached a climax after Prof. Ayobami Salam, was appointed the new Vice-Chancellor of the university.
