The National Universities Commission (NUC) has paid a resource visit to give approval for the commencement of the College of Law and College of Basic Medical and Health Sciences in Fountain University, Osogbo.
The two new colleges which have their programmes as Common Law, Common and Islamic Law, Nursing, Public Health, Environmental Health Science, and Medical Laboratory Science out of the 38 programmes approved by the University Senate attracted the best equipment and personnel in preparation for the NUC visitation.
Speaking during the resource visitation exercise, the NUC team lead for the College of Law, Prof. Emmanuel Kennen commended the University Management for putting up impressive human and material resources for the commencement of the programme.
Prof. Kennen particularly applauded the Management for procuring the 2020 Law reports among other latest editions of textbooks and reference materials, which according to him is very rare to be found in University Law libraries across the country, adding that preparation for the College is awesome and convincing enough to get the nod of the Nigerian Council of Legal Education.
Similarly, the NUC team lead for Nursing, Professor Patience Edoho Samson-Akpan in her remarks gave kudos to the Management for making available state-of-the-art equipment in the nursing laboratories for students’ practical use.
Prof. Patience, who noted that the University has undoubtedly prepared for the commencement of the nursing programme, stressed that more work should be done on other identified areas in readiness for the visitation of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN).
Other programmes including Public Health, Environmental Science, and Medical Laboratory Science got laudable remarks from the NUC teams, however, not without grey areas which the University was advised to improve upon
