Youth in Northern Nigeria under the Northern Youth Business Roundtable has come together to foster mutual relationship with their state government towards contributing their quota to improving investment climates and economic development of the region despite the high level of insecurity the region has been subjected to.
The Director, Communications Hon. Hamzat Bala conveyed this message in a press statement on the organization’s plan to host the first Northern Youth Economic Summit holding in the first week of April 2014 in Abuja.
He further said, already All Nigerians in Diaspora, ABG Paulas Germany, Seone Educational Services U.S.A, companies from Turkey, China, India, Malaysia, Charity Organizations have already accepted to attend this event which is fully packaged with cross-cutting edge benefits in improving Education, Agriculture, Trade, Commerce & Industry, Construction, Real Estate, Solid Minerals and Export access for the region to increase internal generation revenue to boost jobs creation and empowerment of our youth. He said the website is being developed to enable participants, resource persons, and exhibitors to register online.
On what makes this summit different from others, besides being just a talk-show, he said, the youth have decided to take their destiny in their hands, besides the decision to host this summit was premised on a detailed research conducted on strategic action plan on why the effort of past government yielded no results, promising that a post-summit follow-up activities will focus on implementation of resolutions reached with a view to positively engaging a minimum of 1,000 youth within the next 12 months after the summit.
Committee of Deans of Students Affairs of Colleges of Education in Nigeria seeks partnership to improve students’ welfare.

The National President of the Committee of Deans of Students Affairs of Colleges of Education in Nigeria (CODSACOE) Hajia Zainab Abbas Mohammed has called on stakeholders in the educational sector to support government’s effort in improving the welfare of students and staff of the directorate of students’ affairs at the colleges of education in Nigeria. She said, that CODSACOE was set up to provide a single platform for all deans of students affairs to strategies ways towards achieving improved welfare standard for the students. She said they are the bridge between the students and the management thus places a great burden on them from both ends. She said alot of interventions are needed for the colleges to provide our society with adequate manpower to match the growing need for teachers towards improving the literacy level in our society. AFYSDI to hold Breast Cancer Awareness for Nigerian Students, plan to honour women of excellence with Matronship.
As Nigerians joins the rest of the world to mark the World Cancer Day on Feb 4, the African Female Youth & Student Development Initiative (AFYSDI) has scheduled to take the breast cancer awareness campaign to some tertiary institutions in Nigeria. Director, Corporate Affairs Halima Nuradeen said this at a courtesy visit to the Senior Special Assistant to the President Comrade Jude Imagwe who officially flag-off the breast cancer awareness campaign message to female students of tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
She said early detection backed with awareness has been adjudged one of the best steps in reducing the scourge. Campaign, screening, distribution of handbills and advisory services will be given to female students at their hostels where the event will be hosted at some selected tertiary institutions. Already four other NGOs have collaboration with us to enable us to take this campaign to more schools. On the international women’s day, Halima said AFYSDI has decided to honour women with The AFYSDI Distinguished Excellence Award, in recognition for their effort in promoting gender equality & empowerment, excellence in their career and being role model to young African females which is AFYSDI focus for the African continent.
