Nigerian Students Protest the Hike in Electricity Tariff and Fuel

As Nigerians react differently to the recent hike in the prices of fuel and electricity, some aggrieved students in Osogbo, Osun State, and Ibadan in Oyo state, have taken to the streets to protest the increments.

The protesters in Ibadan were pictured with placards with different inscriptions to convey their disapproval, while chanting anti-government songs. They condemned the policies of the Buhari-led administration, describing the recent increment in the prices of electricity and fuel as wicked and one that lacked sound judgment.

One of the protesters was identified as the Chairman of the Joint Campus Committee of the National Association of Nigerian Students, Mayowa Opakunle, he called the government insensitive for taking such a harsh step at a time when a lot of people were barely recovering from the triple effect of COVID-19.

The Osogbo protesting students also carried placards with inscriptions expressing their displeasure over the recent hikes in petroleum products and electricity tariff.
