The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has revealed that it has recommended that matriculating students of tertiary institutions, NYSC members, fresh recruits of security agencies, and all newly appointed government employees, undergo a mandatory drug test as a way of ascertaining the socio-economic stability of the nation.
The Chairman of the NDLEA, Brigadier-General Buba Marwa, disclosed this during a meeting with the commanders of the 36 states of the Federation, FCT, and special commands on Monday, January 25.
Marwa who blamed the upsurge in criminal activities in the country on drugs said the agency was on a national assignment to correct the havoc already caused by drugs usage and urged the commanders to be desirous of keeping drugs out of Nigerian streets and homes.
According to Marwa, the agency is awaiting the approval of the government to kick start the exercise.
