The National Universities Commission (NUC) has scored the University of Lagos 77.75% (Full Accreditation) for the 2011 Institutional Accreditation of Nigerian Universities.
The Institutional Accreditation was conducted in the University from November 27 to December 3, 2011. The process evaluated Institutional Vision, Mission and Strategic Goals; Institutional Governance and Administration; Institutional Resources; Quality of Teaching, Learning and Research; Institutional Efficiency and Effectiveness; Extension Services and Consultancies; Transparency,Financial Management and Stability; and General Ethos.
Below is a breakdown of the implication of the respective status for Institutional Accreditation:
a. 70% and above:
FULL accreditation, valid for seven (7) years.
b. 60 – 69.99%: INTERIM accreditation A, valid for five (5) years.
c. 50 – 59.99%: INTERIM accreditation B, valid for three (3) years.
d. 40 – 49.99%: PROBATION, valid for two (2) years.
e. Below 40%: FAIL
