MTN Launches iLearning: A Free Online Education Service:

Nigeria’s leading telecommunications company, has launched a free online education service in an effort to empower entrepreneurs and businessmen with first class business education.

The iLearning initiative, a collaboration with South African based business school Regenesys, seek to provide business education on the move for business executives and entrepreneurs.

MTN said that the new service aims to eliminate the need of having to sit down in a four-walled classroom whilst allowing the individual to acquire all the professional knowledge needed, without having to pay any fees until they are ready to take examinations.

Speaking at the launch of the service in Lagos, Babatunde Osho, chief enterprise solutions officer at MTN Nigeria, said the initiative could boost business education in Nigeria.

“This service is set to make a positive impact in many ways. As a young entrepreneur, executive or upwardly mobile business owner, just think of the rich learning and development platform MTN iLearning will provide you on the go.

“You can now acquire high-level skills that can make a difference in the way you run your business, whenever and wherever you are, while at the same time getting professional certification,” he said.

He noted that the service offers short courses, executive programmes and even MBA qualifications.

Speaking on the initiative, Dr Marko Saravanja, chairperson and founder of Regenesys, noted that the partnership with MTN is expected to offer world class education to aspiring Nigerians who hitherto could not access such.

“Education still remains a distant dream for many. However, when organisations, like MTN and Regenesys Business School, work together, we can open the doors to learning and provide world-class education through the use of technology,” he said.

Saravanja noted that MTN iLearning is unique in its own way as it is based on a model called “freemium” which provided anyone with full access to free learning materials including study guides, tutor videos, ebooks, academic articles, business tools and much more.

He said those using the platform only need to make payment when they are ready to submit assignments, take examinations or attend classes.

“With MTN iLearning, entrepreneurs can study at their own pace and get the professional certification they need.

“Organisations can also explore it as a means of providing their ever busy staff or workforce needed professional training and certification without having to miss their valuable service and without paying so much,” he said.
