FG to Deploy Mobile Cash Machines in Orientation Camps – NYSC:

Chairman of the National Governing Board of the National Youth Service Corps, Chief Gordon Bozimo, has said the Federal Government will deploy mobile cash machines in orientation camps nationwide.

Delivering a speech at the Batch ‘A’ Orientation Course, which opened on March 11, 2014 and scheduled to end on April 1, 2014, Bozimo explained that the move was a way of preventing corps members from travelling out of camps for cash transactions.

In the copy of the speech made available to Saturday PUNCH on Friday, Bozimo said, “The National Governing Board  noticed the challenges encountered by corps members  in making cash transactions. For this reason, the board has entered into an agreement with some banks to deploy mobile cash machines in all orientation camps nationwide.

“With this, corps members would no longer risk travelling out of camps to withdraw money. Thus, the risk of road accidents, pick pocketing, waste of meagre resources on transport fares and other associated ills have successfully been eliminated.

“The board is aware of the prevalence of post-service unemployment among graduates.

“The board observed that there are limited interventions like the War Against Poverty, which was put in place to assist corps members to set up agro-allied ventures.

“But the increasing population of corps members makes it compelling to expand the scope of such efforts.

“We are adopting a systematic approach whereby management signed a memorandum of understanding with some partners, including banks, to assist more corps members with funds for self employment.”

He said the beneficiaries of such financial assistance would be equipped with knowledge of business strategies so that they could achieve success. (Vanguard)
