The National Union of Lagos State Students (NULASS) has elected new executive members to pioneer the affairs of the body for the next two years. The union which has 68 affiliated school chapters across the country, elects new leaders after every two years.
Comr. Shasanya Akinola polled 45 votes to defeat Ismail Babatunde, who scored seven votes, to emerge as the president of the union in the election which was held on Saturday, May 15, at the Federal College of Education (Technical), Akoka, Lagos.
Other newly elected members of the union are Olufowobi Remilekun, as Vice-President I; Opeseyi Adegboyega as Vice-President II; and Edu Olayiwola as General-Secretary, who was returned unopposed.
Also returned unopposed were Jimoh Oluwatobi – Treasurer; Muhammed Omobolanle – Financial Secretary; and AbdulSalam Hassan as PRO I.
In his acceptance speech, the president-elect, Shasanya Akintola assured members of the body that the union would be restructured in a way that their shared interests will be represented. He expressed delight at the successful election, saying the students had chosen wisely.
