Program Description
The B.Sc. Accounting Professional Degree Programme
This is a four years of eleven semesters(for students admitted into 100 Level), and athree years of eight semesters(for students admitted through Direct Entry into 200 Level). Each year is made up of Harmattan Semester (October – January), Rain Semester (February – May) and Summer Semester (June – September). Each of the years will be focusing on the following:
(a) Year One is theAccounting Technician SchemeYear of 3 semesters

Admission Requirements
Category 1:
admission into Year One (100 Level) for Eleven (11) Semesters of Four Years

The requirement for admission into 100 Level (Year One) of this Accounting Professional Degree Programme is acredit pass in English Language and Mathematics, credit passes at the Ordinary Level in any two of the following: Accounting, Economics, Commerce, Business Studies, and any other credit passto complete the five credits requirement Also candidates to be admitted must go through the Programme’s Screening, and confirmed qualified by the Screening Committee of the School of Business and Governance of the Kwara State University, KWASU Malete.

Transfer Students of Kwara State University
Undergraduate Students of Kwara State University, KWASU from any other degree programme that have completed the 100 Level but with weak academic performance (CGPA less than 1.0) in other programmes but desirous of transferring to the accounting professional degree programme are admissible into 100 Level, provided they possess acredit pass in English Language and Mathematics, and three other credit passes at the Ordinary Level, as stipulated aboveas at the time of transfer.

Category 2:
admission into Year Two (200 Level) Eight (8) Semesters of Three Years

1. Admissible into the 200 Level (Year Two) areholders of Accounting Technician Scheme (ATS) III Certificate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) in addition toacredit pass in English Language and Mathematics, and three other credit passes at the Ordinary Level..
2. Admissible into the 200 Level (Year Two) areholders of Ordinary National diploma (OND) or Higher National diploma in Management or Social Sciences with, at least, lower credit pass in addition to a credit pass in English Language and Mathematics, and three other credit passes at the Ordinary Level..
3. Holders of National Certificate of education (NCE) in Business education or Educational Management with at Distinction in addition to acredit pass in English Language and Mathematics, and three other credit passes at the Ordinary Level, are also admissible into the 200 Level of the accounting professional degree programme.
4. Also candidates with Advanced Level/IJMB with at least a total of seven points in three papers including any one of accounting/economics/business management in addition to acredit pass in English Language and Mathematics, and three other credit passes at the Ordinary Level, are also admissible into the 200 Level (Year Two) of the accounting professional degree programme.
5. Undergraduate Students of Kwara State University, KWASU from any other degree programmethat have successfully completed the 100 Level in other programmes but desirous of transferring to the accounting professional degree programme are admissible into 200 Level, provided they are on a cumulative GPA of not less than 2.0 at the end of their first year in the previous programme and possess a credit pass in English Language and Mathematics, and three other credit passes at the Ordinary Levelas at the time of transfer.

Objective of the Programme
This primary objective of this programme is to equip the students with practical accounting knowledge and skills in our attempt to create a corps of professional accountants.
It is a programme through which Kwara State University will practically produce professional accountants that will be not only possess the Bachelor’s Degree but also the Professional Qualification upon graduation.

Structure of Tuition Fees and Professional Examinations and SBG Fees
The candidates admitted into the Accounting Professional degree programme will pay the same fees below as approved by the University Senate/Management. However, the sum ofOne Hundred Thousand Naira Only (N100,000.00) of the total fees will be set aside as Professional Feeswith which the process of professional examinations would be accomplished. It is with these fees that theStudents would be registered for the Professional Examinationsa compulsory part of the programme.

At the end of the degree programme, each graduating student would be expected to have qualified or close to qualifying as chartered accountant having passed all the stages of the professional examinations.

B. Sc. ENTERPRISE CREATION & MANAGEMENT PROFESSIONAL DEGREE PROGRAMME
TheB. Sc. Enterprise Creation and Management Professional Degree Programmewill be afour years of eleven semesters(for students admitted through into 100 Level), and athree years of eight semesters(for students admitted through Direct Entry into 200 Level). 2. Year Two is the Enterprise ManagementYear of 3 semesters

This primary objective of this programme is to teach the practical knowledge of entrepreneurship in our attempt to create a corps of practical entrepreneurs. It is a programme through which Kwara State University, KWASU will practically produce entrepreneurs that will be opportunity obsessed and practically resourceful.

Structure of Tuition Fees and Enterprise Capital (Seed Fund)
The candidates admitted into the entrepreneurship degree programme will pay the same fees below as approved by the University Senate/Management. However, the sum ofOne Hundred Thousand Naira Only (N100,000.00) of the total fees will be set aside as Enterprise Capital with which the process of practical enterprise creation and management would be accomplished. It is with a portion of this capital that theStudents’ Enterprises would be created and managed by the students while going through the degree programme’s practical entrepreneurship.

At the end of the degree programme, each graduating student would be entitled to the cumulative value of his enterprise capital as he or she graduates as an entrepreneur and an ambassador of the University’s Entrepreneurship Centre.

While the Normal School Tuition and Other Fees would be paid into the University’s Normal Tuition Account, the Enterprise Capital Fee would be paid into the Centre’s Account. The Centre for Entrepreneurship is entitled to only fifty (50) percent of the Enterprise Capital for Management and Other Charges while the balance of fifty (50) percent is accumulated in theENTERPRISE CAPITAL SEED FUND for investment in Students’ Enterprisesto be managed by the students.

B. Sc. ECONOMICS PROFESSIONAL DEGREE PROGRAMME
The B. Sc. Economics Professional Degree Programme will be a four years of eleven semesters(for students admitted through into 100 Level), and athree years of eight semesters(for students admitted through Direct Entry into 200 Level). Each year is made up of Harmattan Semester (October – January), Rain Semester (February – May) and Summer Semester (June – September). Each of the years will be focusing on the following:
1. Year One is the Introductory Economics Year of 3 semesters
2. Year Two is the Economic Theory Year of 3 semesters
3. Year Three is the Intermediate EconomicsYear of 3 semesters
4. Year Four is the Applied Economics Year of 2 semesters

Admission Requirements
