ToggleThe Royal Tropicana Hostel has remained closed for some time, leaving students unable to reside there throughout the 2023-2024 academic session. The decision to close the hostel was primarily due to safety concerns, particularly during the rainy season.
News of the ongoing renovations is a welcome relief, especially for the new intakes of the 2025/2026 academic session, many of whom have struggled to find accommodation. Reports indicate that other hostels, including ASD, Kadabo, PG, Hamdala, and MKR within KASU’s main campus, are fully booked, leaving no space for additional students.
The timely refurbishment and anticipated reopening of the Royal Tropicana Hostel at the end of January 2025 offer a glimmer of hope in addressing the pressing need for female student housing.
