The special adviser to the Cross River State Governor on Education, Mr. Castro Ezama, shared a story about a junior secondary school student who reportedly stabbed an SS 3 student in one of the public schools in Calabar, for daring to discipline him.
According to Ezama, the school prefect identified as Joseph Umoren had instructed the junior student (name withheld) to correct his stockings, but this didn't sit well with the junior student who then connived with his gang members believed to be cultists, and stabbed the prefect in the neck.
He added that the injured student was rushed to the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, UCTH, and nearly lost his life to the stab wound if not for the prompt intervention of teachers, security agencies, and health officials.
