JAMB Suspends 47 CBT Centres, Anambra and Rivers State Top List

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has published the names of 47 Computer-Based Test Centres suspended ahead of the March 14 Unified Tertiary Matriculations Examination. It was noted that Rivers and Anambra state have the highest number of suspended CBT centrres with eight centres each.

It was reported that the 47 centres were suspended for registration infractions, extortion of candidates directly or through proxy, technical deficiency through third-party examination, and inability to produce JAMB security equipment in their care.

According to the breakdown by the board, eight centres were suspended apiece in Rivers and Anambra states; five apiece in Nasarawa and Delta; four in Bayelsa, and two apiece in Katsina, Kwara and Lagos states.

Oyo, Ondo, Osun, Adamawa and Niger had one CBT centre for each suspended.

It was also gathered that the centre owners and operators, have been handed over to the security agencies.”

Meanwhile, the JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, has warned CBT centres against collecting the candidates’ passwords or determining their passwords for them at the point of registration.

The registrar said it was improper for the CBT centres to also retain the forms filled by candidates which contained vital data.
