IAUE gets NUC approval to run 14 new programmes

The Acting Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), Mallam Chris J. Maiyaki, has approved the establishment of fourteen new academic programmes for Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE), Rumuolumeni, Port Harcourt.

In a letter sent to the Acting Vice Chancellor of IAUE, Professor Okechuku Onuchuku, signed by the Acting Director of Academic Planning, NUC, Abubakar M. Girel, on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, the Acting Executive Secretary of NUC stated that the full-time mode of the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes will be run in the main campus of the University, effective from the 2024/2025 academic session.

Recall that a team of experts had visited the university to assess the human and material resources available for the establishment of the programmes. 

The approved programmes are:

1. B. A. Linguistics 

2. B. A. Philosophy 

3.B.Sc. Peace and Conflict Resolution

4. B. Sc. Petroleum Economy and Policy Studies

5. B.Sc. Geophysics 

6. B.Sc. Industrial Chemistry

7. B.Sc. Public Administration

8. B.Sc. Hospitality and Tourism Management

9. B.Sc. Statistics

10. B.Sc.Mass Communication

11. B.Sc. Software Engineering

12. M.A. and Ph.D. Music

13. M.A. and Ph.D. Religion and Cultural Studies

14. M.Sc and Ph.D. Computer Science
