FUTO Graduates Win Nigerian Minning and Geosciences Society Prize:
Two female graduates of the Department of Geosciences, Federal University of Technology, Owerri have won the 2014 Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society prize in two categories.
Miss Esther Mbagwu won the NMGS/Dr MARIE STELLA SONUGA prize as the 2012/2013 best graduating female student in Geology in FUTO in 2013 while Miss Stella Alozie won the 2014 NMGS/PROF. DEBORAH ENILO AJAKAIYE prize for her research project entitled “Delineation of lead zinc Veins in Ishiagu, South Eastern Nigeria using Geophysical Methods”.

In a letter dated February 2, 2014, the Chairman, NMGS Awards Committee, Prof Aniekan Edet disclosed that the award would be conferred on them during the 50th Annual International conference of NMGS holding in Benin from Sunday, March 16 – 19, 2014.
In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor congratulated the former FUTO students for bringing honour to the University.
