FUTA deputy registrar killed by unknown gunmen

The Deputy Registrar of the Federal University of Technology, FUTA, Akure, and a Senior Pastor at CAC, Glory of God, Dr Amos Arijesuyo has been confirmed dead after being shot by suspected kidnappers on the evening of Saturday, 16 January 2021.

According to reports, the deceased and his family were attacked at Iwaraja area of Ilesa-Akure highway in Osun State while travelling back to Akure from Ibadan, when they encountered the unknown gunmen.

The kidnappers reportedly shot at the tyres of the vehicle, and in a bid to escape from the attack, the driver tried to manoeuvre the car and this resulted in the gunmen firing several gunshots at the vehicle, which hit the deputy registrar in the chest and the driver in the arm.

The deceased bled profusely from the gunshots wounds and died before he could get to the hospital.

The university is yet to issue a statement on the incident.
