FUAHSE gets NUC approval to run 16 academic programmes

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved 16 academic programmes for commencement of full-fledged award of degrees by the newly established Federal University of Allied Health Sciences Enugu (FUAHSE).

The NUC had in October this year came to the university for verification of the degree programmes which the university assembled as unique allied health science courses it wants to commence the university with.

Acting Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof John Emaimo made the disclosure of the approval during an expanded management meeting of the institution, on Wednesday.

Emaimo listed the 16 NUC approved courses to include: Nursing Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Radiography, Social Work, Public Health, Dental Technology, Dental Therapy, Medical Rehabilitation Therapy (Physiotherapy), Prosthetics and Orthotics.

Others are: Health Information Management, Healthcare Management, Biomedical Engineering, Human Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry and Microbiology.

The Vice Chancellor noted that the University will employ creativity to do things differently from what are obtained in other universities, stating that the upgrade of the the former college of Dental Technology and Therapy to the University of Allied Health Sciences was because of its characteristics innovations and excellence in academics, skills and extra curriculum activities.

He further disclosed that admission process for 2024/2025 academic session has started and that any interested candidate who scored 160 marks and above in the last Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) could apply for the university admission online via the university portal.
