FG removes newly appointed Vice-Chancellor of UNIABUJA

The President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has removed the Vice Chancellors or the University of Abuja (now Yakubu Gowon University), Professor Aisha Sani Maikudi and the Acting Vice Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) Professor Polycarp Emeka Chigbu before his tenure ends on February 14.

Professor Lar Patricia Manko has been appointed as Acting Vice Chancellor at the University of Abuja for a six-month term. She will not be eligible to apply for the substantive Vice Chancellor position when it becomes available. Also, Professor Oguejiofu T. Ujam has been appointed to replace Professor Polycarp Emeka Chigbu for six months and will not be eligible to apply for the permanent position.

President Tinubu also changed the Pro-Chancellors of the two universities as well as the Prochancelors of UNIUYO, FULOKOJA , Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education and UNIZIK.

It was stated that all appointments and reassignment decisions are effective immediately and that these changes reflect the administration’s commitment to revitalising Nigeria’s higher education system through dynamic leadership and accountability.
