Eight students of the University of Abuja have received a grant of 2.2million Naira to undertake research in their various fields of study.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abdul-Rasheed Na’Allah, who presented cheques to the beneficiaries, said that universities had no business other than to help contribute to national development. “We are ready as a University to build this nation. Our goal in the University is to provide good leadership to Nigerian university system, we have to lead the way,” he said.
The Director, Centre for Undergraduate Research, Dr. Taibat Atoyebi, said the undergraduate researchers emerged winners of the University of Abuja Undergraduate Research Grant after their proposals were reviewed by the consultative forum of the Centre which consisted of lecturers from every faculty of the University.
The beneficiaries include one student from the Faculty of Agriculture, three from Veterinary Medicine, two from the Dept of Computer Science and two from College of Health Sciences.
