Sequel to the memo released by the Bookshop committee on 29 September 2021 in response to the letter written by the students' union government on 23 September 2021, we wish to update the entire students of Federal Polytechnic, Oko on the latest information concerning the sales of TEXTBOOKS.
The Bookshop committee and the Textbook costing/pricing committer after series of meetings have started operating in full force to ensure a proper and effective Textbook acquisition mechanism in the polytechnic
In order to ensure that the prices of textbooks are being regulated, and students are not directly or indirectly mandated to buy Text books. We the STUDENTS UNION GOVERNMENT wish to state the new rules for the purchases of Textbooks
The set rules were based on the facts that most Textbooks with high prices are those Textbooks that sold directly to students through their class representatives, thereby not going through the Bookshop committee for proper vet, costing and pricing
THE RULES ARE AS FOLLOWS:
a. TheĀ SUG ban for the purchases of textbooks is now lifted
b. All sales and purchases of Textbooks must be in the POLYTECHNIC BOOK SHOP C
c. There should be no PURCHASES OF TEXTBOOKS BY PROXY i.e (Students should not buy any Textbook through their class/course reps or through their fellow student)
d. Any student or class/course rep found selling Textbooks for any Lecturer will serve a one year academic suspension
e. Any student or class rep found compiling list(s) of people that purchased any textbook will be severely punished.
f. Class reps should present to the bookshop committee any textbook with assignment attachment for either approval or rejection by the committee.
g. Student should immediately report any form of irregularities in the cause of implementing these aforestated rules
Students are strongly admonished to strictly adhere to this latest development, as defaulters will be seriously dealt with. We already have our task force and we have secret informants in all classes for proper implementation
Thanks for your usual cooperation.
