NEKEDEPOLY vice chancellor addresses students as the school resumes

The Rector, Engr. Dr. Michael Chidiebere Arimanwa on behalf of the Management and staff of FPNO joyfuly welcomes back our very dear students to resume academic activities disrupted by the Novel Corona Virus Pandemic. It will be recalled that academic activities and general services in the Polytechnic were suspended sequel to the nationwide lockdown oCcasioned by the ravaging effects of the COVID-19 in March, 2020 as was directed by the Federal Government of Nigeria.

It is with utmost appreciation and gratitude to God Almighty that I anticipate the arrival of our students from saturday 14 November, 2020 in response to the announcement of our resumption of academic activities for the 2019/2020 Academic Session based on the directive of the Federal Government for schools to resume. It is also imperative to further glorify God who kept all of us safe during the pandemic. You are welcome back.

I am delighted to inform you all that adequate protocol requirements as established and directed by the Federal Goveriment for the safety of all of us against the Corona Virus for academic activities to resume on campus have been met and also put in place. You are therefore assured that the FPNO is totally compliant to these protocols. Our campus and its environment have been fully fumigated and decontaminated accordingly. It is therefore safe.

I am not unaware of the recent security challenges imposed on us by a rew criminal elements perpetrating evil in some of our host communities. These as we know have led to the gruesome murder of some individuals wno are not our students. it is important to place it on record that those incidents never took place in FPNO. They did not happen on campus and none of the victims was our student since our students are yet to resume as at the period of the incidents.

However, I want to convey to all our students, staff and the Polytechnic Community in general verified and factual information that the Imo State Government through its various security Agencies are on top of the situation. The security architecture on ground and every necessary control measure have further been beefed up while the safety of lives and properties is guaranteed. You are therefore enjoined to be law abiding and loyal to all constituted authorities as you come back and continue with your lawful academic activities and other programmes.

Finally, as I conclude, it is pertinent that I advice all the students who are yet to pay their school fees to do so without further delay. This is necessary for them to ensure the completion of their registration process and become bona fide students of FPNO. The smart campus initiative is the pride of FPN0, key in to benefit from it.

Once more as I welcome you all back, stay safe and comply accordingly with all the COVID-19 protocols of the Federal Government.

Thank you.
