The vice chancellor on behalf of Senate has directed the immediate closure of the University today 21st October 2020. This has become necessary in order to forestall total breakdown of law and order on campus given the tense security situation in the country at the moment occasioned by the #ENDSARS protests as well as the indefinite strike embarked upon by the Senior Association of the Nigerian universities (SSANU-BSU) and the non-academic staff union of Educational and associated institutions (NASU-BSU) .
All staff on essential duties are to remain on their duty posts while the closure lasts. These include staff of
- Offices of Management staff of the University
- Security unit
- Water Treatment plant
- University clinic
- The power Generating house
All staff not listed in the categories above are kindly advised to stay away from the campus
Staff are by this notice advises to adhere strictly to the closure
Staff are to be informed of any further development as the security situation improves
