Fed Poly Nasarawa Staff Union Gives Management 3 Weeks Ultimatum, Threatens Strike Action

The Joint Action Committee (JAC) comprised of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic (ASUP), Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Polytechnic (SSANIP) and Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) of the Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa, Nasarawa state, has issued a three-week ultimatum to the management of the institution to address issues of staff welfare or face an indefinite strike action.

This was made known by the Chairman of the union, Mrs Benedicta Njoku.

She mentioned that the union has held several meetings with the management to resolve these issues yet nothing meaningful has been done about it.

“The joint union has given the management of this institution three weeks ultimatum to pay 2014 staff arrears.

“We are also calling for the payment of various staff claims, implementation of 2015 staff promotion, among others, failure of which we will embark on indefinite strike,’’ she said.

However, reacting to this , the Deputy Rector of the polytechnic, Dr Hassan Sani, said effort are on towards meeting the demands of the union and urged the union to remain calm as the polytechnic needed their maximum cooperation to address her challenges and move greater heights.
