President Muhammadu Buhari has assented to a bill that is seeking to upgrade the Federal College of Education, Pankshin in Plateau state to a University of Education. The bill was sponsored by Rt. Hon. Yusuf Gagdi, Member Representing Pankshin, Kanam, Kanke Federal Constituency.
Plateau state governor, Solomon Lalung in a statement issued on Thursday, Feb 3, commended the President for approving the bill, saying the new bill confirms the position of the state as a center of learning in the North Central, and indeed the nation at large.
The governor also stated that he was hopeful that the creation of the University will further solve the challenge of shortage of well-trained teachers in the country.
