The Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, has given the assurance that the Faculty of Engineering, Gudi Campus and two programs from the College of Health and Medical Sciences will commence academic activities this session.
Professor Suleiman Bala Mohammed gave the assurance on Thursday while speaking at a reception organized by the staff of the Vice-Chancellor's Office to commemorate his 60th birthday.
Professor Suleiman also said that coming on stream this academic session from the College of Health and Medical Sciences is Community Health and Health Information Sciences programs while the MBBS program will commence from the next academic session.
The Vice-Chancellor added that work at the Gudi campus has reached an advanced stage while Basic Resource Verification for the programs by their respective regulatory bodies will be concluded within the shortest possible time.
Professor Suleiman during the reception took time out to highlight breakthroughs recorded by his administration including the takeover of the payment of University wages by the State Government, the establishment of the Open Distance Learning Program (ODel), the introduction of the Trans-Border University System with Lincoln University, the collaboration between the NSUK and the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) for the establishment of the Centre of Excellence in Cold Chain Management which he stated will further boost the internal earnings of the University amongst others innovative interventions.
Speaking on behalf of the Staff of the Vice-Chancellor's Office, Mrs. Hannatu Baikie Mukhtar said they organized the reception to honor the Vice-Chancellor and celebrate a leader who has brought innovation to governance and unprecedented development to the University.
The colorful occasion which was well attended by Principal Officers, Deans, and Directors of the University had a presentation from the Dean, School of Postgraduate Studies Professor Jonathan Ayuba on behalf of the staff of the PG School.
