Educationist Calls on Govts to Invest in Rural Schools

Mr Solomon Dagami, the Executive Secretary, Bwari Local Education Authority, has called on the federal and state governments to invest in schools in rural areas to improve teaching and learning.

“Effective teaching and learning will thrive if there is adequate manpower and well equipped library facilities, among others.

“Governments must employ qualified teaching staff to teach students in order to improve their standard of learning,’’ Dagami said on Monday in Bwari.

He told the the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that owners of private schools in rural areas should engage the services of qualified teachers.

Dagami said that a situation where a teacher was compelled to teach subjects outside his or her area of specialisation contributed to lowering the standard of education.

He urged owners of private schools to employ teachers with a minimum of NCE qualification. (NAN)
