Education ministry’s N1bn budget for travels

The House of Representatives has queried the “wasteful” N1bn vote of the Ministry of Education for travels and conferences in this year’s budget, calling for immediate review of the proposal.

Comments:

Stan: Scrap this anti-masses budget. This is budget is a mere appropriation of money for next election. What a shame for a country that is in dire need of infrastructure.

Moses Idowu: There is something very sinister about 2014 budget. Let us take the education ministry as example. The education ministry under Nyesom Wike wants to spend N1bn on travels, almost about 50 per cent of the vote for training of teachers. Is there any good that can come out of this budget? Is Nigerian education likely to be better at the end? Of course, not!

Planet: This is corruption in action. N1bn as travel expenditure! Where is the so-called Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria that nailed Sanusi?
