OAU disclaimer notice on fake accounts on social media

The attention of the Management of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, has been drawn to the nefarious activities of a scamming syndicate and impostors on Facebook who set out to defraud the unsuspecting members of the public by promising admission placements, job opportunities, award of contracts and other benefits to teeming seekers at a fee, using the name of the Vice-Chancellor of the University.

In view of this ugly development, members of the public should note that businesses of a reputable University like ours are never conducted on any platform of social media.

In fact, the Management sees it as criminal, uncanny and improper for anybody or a group of persons to align with or transact business of the University with faceless and unidentified individuals who are not officers or designated staff of the University.

The University, therefore, dissociates itself completely from these miscreants who by their actions wish to bring its image to disrepute.

We, therefore, want to assure the general public that effort is on to identify and bring the criminal(s) to justice.
